This week on Rise UP Radio we sat down for a special episode with community leader and organizer, Noel Musicha of the Chisomo Idea, to talk with him about creating flourishing community, understanding and undressing poverty, and leading people into movements of change. Noel is no stranger to leading communities and empowering people to thrive. After having left his homeland of Malawi, Africa to pursue opportunities here in San Diego, Noel began a movement mobilizing the materially privileged to nurture the God-given gifts of Africa’s most “at-risk” individuals and communities to create sustainable opportunities for his fellow Malawians. As the organization has grown and expanded, Noel likes to see himself as the cultural architect behind the Chisomo Idea movement. Noel graduated with a BA in Communication and Biblical studies from San Diego Christian College and most recently completed a Masters Degree in Public Administration, Organizational Leadership at National University in California. Noel, a proud former goat-header, has also played professional soccer with different clubs in Malawi and San Diego. Noel, his wife Melissa and their beautiful children live and work in the Linda Vista community, where Noel leads the local impact work of Flood Church and sits on the board of Bayside Community Center.
